As reported last week, Narciso Rodriguez has teamed up with Kohl’s. He’s the first designer to participate in the retailer’s new Design Nation program, which teams a designer with a city of their choice, then takes them to that location to find inspiration for a monthlong capsule collection.
Rodriguez chose Istanbul and spent four days there earlier this year. “It was a really interesting idea to travel somewhere you had never been to before, and get your inspiration from a place that wouldn’t normally be in your comfort zone, bring that back and turn it into a collection,” he told WWD. “I was completely inspired by the people, the city and all the different cultures.”
A stack of rugs, for instance, he ended up photographing and turning into abstract prints for the collection, which launches at Kohl’s in November and features outerwear, tops, dresses, and knits that will run $30 to $150.
Derek Lam is reportedly the next designer on tap, for spring.
