As the winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award, Joseph Altuzarra’s collection is up first in a string of designer collaborations with J.Crew. The pieces, you’ll notice, are more J.Crew than Altuzarra. He told the New York Times, “J. Crew stands for that very American idea of prep, but I thought it would be cool to do something inspired by Bardot and St.-Tropez. It’s very Jean Seberg. There’s the idea of Breton sweaters, denim skirts and what you would wear on the French Riviera.”
The gingham dresses are sexier than those usually offered by J.Crew this time of year, and the espadrilles preppier. The cashmere striped sweaters, however, are a little bit of both thanks to expertly scattered snags and pulls: they’re bound to sell out first when everything goes on sale online tomorrow (or in J.Crew’s 5th Avenue store on April 23). The collection starts at $85 and goes up to $345 for a pair of shoes. More images, after the jump!
