Mark Lee made dozens of changes when he took over Barneys nearly two years ago, but hiring Amanda Brooks as Fashion Director made the most headlines. Over the past year, Brooks, who worked at William Morris and Tuleh prior to Barneys, has become an important face of the brand—alongside Simon Doonan—and a constant presence in the front row, not to mention a frequent party host.
This morning, Brooks announced that she’s giving up the coveted position to move to England with her family. She told WWD, “To be the fashion director of a store with such a unique and inspiring vision has always been a dream job. I have had the pleasure of working with an incredibly talented team but have resigned…It is a personal decision and I will miss working with the Barneys team.”
Though Brooks’ move leaves a plum job open, one that would attract a big name, Barneys told the trade that it has no plans to replace Brooks anytime soon.
