Though the 90s have been creeping back into style for the past year, nostalgia’s been expressed via designers’ love of plaid, Hollywood’s Jen Linley-worship and a newfound appreciation for My So Called Life. Late last week, things took a turn in the other direction.
Next, a British high street store that’s sort of like Wet Seal-meets-H&M, announced their plans to launch a collection based on that iconic Union Jack dress worn by Ginger Spice, aka Geri Halliwell, on the Spice Girls’ world tour and, lest you forget, in Spice World. Instead of simply reissuing the dress (which they are doing, in sequins, for just over $300), they’ve stamped a collection of bikinis, t-shirts, maxi dresses and even lingerie with the red, white and blue flag.
