15:46 – Meet with Bruno Frisoni to walk through the Roger Vivier collection, all of which is inspired by a lux version of Bohemia. Last time I was there a live bird escaped from a cage during the presentation. Now he jokes he’s made it a shoe! We are kidding of course…I think!?!?
16:20 – Over to Hotel Le Bristol to re-see Versace’s Couture. Run into Prada’s American PR Head Jenny Kim who is in town for tonight’s Prada party. She says it’s not to miss with several surprises in store! She’s someone I definitely trust!
16:52 – Back to Meurice for an umbrella. Hasn’t stopped raining and while my Chanel folder cover may say “I was at the Chanel show!” right now my look says “I need a towel!”
19:14 – Better equipped, I walk across Place Vendôme to the private Givenchy presentation at the architecturally beautiful Hôtel d’Evereux. Every season’s Couture invitation is a poster of the most incredible imagery. I frame them and hang in my hall way at home. This will be the fourth I add to my collection.
19:31 – Can barely lift my jaw after viewing the Givenchy collection. Rather than dozens of looks, all blood sweat and tears have been poured into only 10. With a nod and a wink I am alerted that one look I am wanting to reserve for our shoot has another engagement: the Oscars. Wonder who that could be? #yearofthedragon
19:43 – Stunned over the jewelry at Givenchy. Such a pairing of piercing and opulance. Not often that I see things which render me speechless—and I see a lot of fashion.
19:48 – Cross Place Vendôme again. This time my mission, which I have no choice but to accept, is to head to uber-boutique Collette for Longchamp’s party in honor of print-cess Mary Katrantzou.
19:51- See M.O. Relative PR honcho Mesh. Not many people make it through this life operating with a one name monokier, especially in fashion. There is Karl, Phoebe, Raf…and Mesh is one of those too unique not to add to the club.
19:55 – Mesh offers to introduce me to Mary K. herself. Since I don’t attend the London shows I’m completely star struck; we chat for the next 15 minutes. By the time we hug goodbye we have planned a lunch date and studio visit for the next time I am in London. Wow.
20:04 – Umbrella up yet again I hoof it the four blocks back to the Meurice. I am meeting the Chanel crew there for a group dinner with editors from other books.
20:21 – Chanel crew in tow, we arrive at storied restaurant Lapérouse. Located on the Quai, this place has seen it all: from its time as a bordello in the 18th Century to the site of Prada’s first Miu Miu show in Paris (where only a handful of editors were invited)…let’s just say I’m glad walls can’t talk! At least not while we’re eating…
Wednesday, January 25th
1:04 – No we didn’t fall into a black hole, we’re just finishing dinner. On to the Prada party someone asks? Onward and upward! We need to dance to burn some of these four hour dinner calories off!
1:29 – Arrive at the 24 Hour Museum, Muiccia Prada’s ingenious creation for this fashion week. The concept is a museum (it will open to the public in the morning) featuring one-of-a-kind “sculptures” by Prada friend and collaborator Francesco Vezzoli. One half-neon meets one half-pop culture in the form of a modern Venus di Milo. Wait is that Natalie Portman? Or Michelle Williams?! Courtney…is that you???
1:44 – Never knew Kate Moss could DJ. She’s actually not half bad! You learn something new everyday!
