Not since Katie Grand left Pop to launch Love has a magazine been so hugely anticipated. And to be so anticipated in the Internet age means to launch in a thunderstorm of rumors.
Most of what’s been said about Carine Roitfeld’s new magazine, however, has turned out to be true: It will be published in English, based in New York, a quarterly stuffed full of fashion. Today, WWD gives the magazine a launch date—September of this year (a September launch of anything guarantees a New York Fashion Week bash).
The stylist and former editor also tells the trade that it will look like a book, without any of the front of book news anchoring most fashion magazines. Instead, they write, “Its emphasis will be ‘fashion with a lot of freedom.’” Of course, its emphasis could be on anything and the fashion pack would be excited enough to call newsstands a month in advance.
