Ellen Von Unwerth shot Claudia Schiffer’s first Guess ad in 1989. Though she didn’t wear Guess, the ad was a hit, propelling Schiffer into super-dom and turning the brand into what Paul Marciano calls “a new company.”
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the denim brand, Marciano’s recruited the same blonde duo to shoot a black and white spring campaign. This time around Schiffer does wear Guess, but other than that she looks nearly the same as she did more than 20 years ago. This actually marks her seventh ad for the brand (her first since 1991) and she told WWD, “Guess will always have a soft spot in my heart, and I’m excited that 23 years later we can still work together so successfully…Shooting the Guess 30th anniversary campaign was like going back in time. It brought back so many great memories and has been a lot of fun working together again with Ellen and Paul.”
Aside from the photos, Guess is marking its anniversary with a capsule collection of reissued favorites, like the Marilyn jeans that put them on the map and the gingham shirt worn by Eva Herzigova. Look for it in stores starting April 24th.
