To fete 85 years of beauty, Erno Laszlo’s just launched The Hollywood Collection, a limited edition 5-piece set of skin care formulations inspired by the most iconic starlets of yore, all of whom were devotees of the brand.
The beauty brand’s team unearthed an archive boasting detailed notes dating back to the days when Dr. Laszlo treated stars like Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Ava Gardner. The technicians got to work mixing the custom blends Laszlo produced for the ingénues before updating the formulas with today’s technology: Old Hollywood extending a long, white-gloved helping hand to the tech age.
Housed in a luxurious lacquer box, each jar of skin-saving salve in The Hollywood Collection boasts new ebony packaging, the first departure from the brand’s readily recognizable minimalist clear and white utilitarian packaging. The product suite includes Ava Gardner’s Instant Eye Repair (including Apricot Kernal Oil from her original formula), Katharine Hepburn’s Intensive Porcelain Veil (featuring Avocado Oil, used by the star), Grace Kelly’s Refresh Moisture Infusion (Vitamin E was incorporated into the Hitchcock heroine’s former face cream) and Greta Garbo’s Velvet Night Cream (Jojoba Seed Oil softened her skin back in the day).
Not surprisingly, the most decadent is Monroe’s. It contains glycerin, which the starlet allegedly used religously, but also contains semi-precious gems and liquid pearls, all suspended in an air-whipped pink gel. If that won’t see you through the winter, what will?
The collection’s exclusively at Nordstrom through February, for $125.
