Prabal Gurung‘s not the first designer we’ve noticed reverting to old favorites this season.
At Gurung’s spring show, held at Frank Gehry’s IAC building on the West Side Highway, he worked in more than a few notes of his lauded spring collection (with sprinkles of Givenchy).
Later in the day, Alexander Wang rearranged his usual square-shaped seating into a rectangle, but kept last season’s mirrored set. This time around the leather-clad super models—Gisele, Shalom, Carmen, Frankie—stared into the mirrors at the end, a choreographed move one editor summed up as, “a call to self-reflection.” For more, read Cathy Horyn’s take at the Times.
And lastly, Rag & Bone‘s stellar showing called to mind their standout fall 2010 collection (our personal favorite). In part thanks to Vanessa Reid’s brilliant styling but also a slew of what they do best: blanket capes, wool kilts, skinny leather leggings, perfectly chunky winter boots and a slim cut suit or two.
