It’s only day three of London Fashion Week and the city already has New York beat in the celebrity department. Minnie Driver popped up at Alice Temperley last night, then Kate Moss and Rihanna at Stella McCartney’s evening wear presentation and this morning, at Mulberry, there was one famous face after another.
Lana Del Rey held (silent) court in the middle of the front row, not surprising given that the brand’s just named their newest bag the Del Rey in honor of the singer. On either side sat Michelle Williams—who should be hopping on a plane to LA to collect that Oscar quite soon—and Elizabeth Olsen. Half way through the show we noticed the Downton Abbey‘s Crawley sisters next to Olsen, and Azealia Banks on the other side of Del Rey. Bill Nighy, Tom Hiddleston and the requisite Geldof were packed into Claridge’s Ballroom as well.
Backstage, envious of Olsen’s seat, we asked the actress if she was as big a Downton Abbey fan as the rest of the fashion pack. Turns out she hasn’t had a minute to watch the series, “I really want to! I really, really want to,” she said. “Everyone’s obsessed with the show and it’s on every single entertainment weekly and newspaper and whatever…We should probably DVR it,” she said, turning to her roommate and best friend.
Turns out the actress flew in just for the show and saw plenty of things she’d like to take home. “There was this black beaded dress that was paired with a zip-up hoodie that was black—also beaded—and I thought that was so, so beautiful,” Olsen said. “And the black fur dress at the end that was so gorgeous. It’d look very different on me than it did on the model. I’d need like an extra foot—really you’d just need to pull me in a totally different direction for that to work out”
