Two of the most popular nail brands now have their own salons: OPI launched one in Los Angeles back in 2009, and next week, Essie will open its first ever flagship salon. The gleaming white New York space was designed by the architect Peter Millard, complete with couches done in classic Essie pinks, reds, and purples—think Bahama Mama, Coral Reef, Rasinnuts, Big Spender, and Status Symbol—and a wall displaying every single Essie shade, over 250 in all.
The space officially opens next Tuesday, June 26, inside the newly-renovated Samuel Shriqui Salon on 65th Street and Madison Avenue, but those seeking a manicure or pedicure treatment can also choose to have their nails done outside in the adjacent tranquil garden area.
The brand’s founder Essie Weingarten has gotten her nails done by Josephine Allen, lead manicurist at Samuel Shriqui for over 25 years, and as such, the flagship will offer a signature Essie Weingarten manicure—a coat of Blushing Bride followed by a coat of Mademoiselle.
