Maryam Keyhani, jewellery designer extraordinaire. We got together at her Yorkville home over the winter for a shoot for TheKit.ca. Always divine, Keyhani welcomed me into her minimalist chic home wearing a Maison Martin Margiela trompe l’oeuil skirt, Uniqlo black sweater, YSL heels and her own necklace—the true pièce de résistance.
While we played around taking pictures, Keyhani and I talked online shopping, tea and Napoleon Bonaparte.
Describe your style in 4 adjectives.
Mood-dependent, minimal, clean and a tiny bit surreal.
What’s your style motivation?
I’m always on, I can’t stop and inspiration is everywhere. I can’t turn it off. It’s hard to detach yourself from it.
Style role model?
Don’t really have a role model but I adore Marlene Dietrich it was the first time I watched the movie Morocco. Oh, and I have a huge girl crush on Tilda Swinton.
Can’t live without closet staple?
A well-pressed white shirt.
Dressing up is an extension of ones personality so it’s about paying attention to what does it for you. There is really no formula. It’s all within you.
