Home shopping has been on a high-fashion jewelry kick as of late. Following Iris Apfel’s slightly controversial collaboration with HSN, WWD announced that former IMG executive, Fern Mallis will design a range for QVC. Titled Fern’s Finds, the collection will be hawked live throughout fashion week during the channel’s remote coverage of the week’s events.
This is huge news for Fern-o-files who’ve missed the fashion institution’s consistent presence at shows since Mallis left her position at IMG in 2010. ”I’m reinventing my life…[it's part of] my second act,” she told the trade paper of her unlikely accessories venture.
Mallis, who’s apartment is reportedly filled to the brim with jewelry, will scour places like India and South Africa for fine pieces to bring home and interpret in costume for her QVC customer. Although photos are yet to be released, so far there’s a gold-plated filigree cuff sprinkled with stones, some highly embellished earrings, and a spin on Indian bridal necklaces—each retailing for between $35 and $79.
The underlying point is that more is more, “I’m always wearing multiple necklaces and multiple bracelets,” Mallis explained of her accessorizing habits. Lisa Morrisey, the vice present of fashion merchandising at QVC emphasized, “What’s wonderful about this product is, this is Fern. This is how Fern wears her fashion jewelry.”
Keep an eye out early next month for the collection’s release!
