Stylists, and the celebrities who love them, have become an inextricable element of Hollywood culture. To celebrate these synergies, The Hollywood Reporter has released its second annual list of the top 25 influential names in the biz.
Among them, Leslie Fremar, who appears alongside Charlize Theron on one version of the four-cover edition. Other celebrated duos include Petra Flannery and flame haired protégé Emma Stone, Jeanne Yang and client-cum-business partner Katie Holmes and Elizabeth Stewart, pictured in stride with The Help’s Jessica Chastain.
Topping the list is Kate Young, whose consistently feminine and quirky looks for clients including Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams recently resulted in a contract with Macy’s INC. Known for her trademark platinum tresses and a pleasant demeanor, Young is notably the only stylist currently represented by powerful Hollywood agency, CAA. And while the list is mostly a glamorous ode to behind-the-seamsters, it also highlights the fact that good styling can lead to lucrative contracts. Case in point, Hailee Steinfeld, whose Miu Miu gig the trade accredits to stylists Kemal Harris and Karla Welch’s tireless True Grit red-carpet campaign.
Curiously left off the list? Rachel Zoe, whose fame THR dubs “beyond what anyone thought a stylist could achieve.”
