dolce bra Get Briefed

As the sun creeps out and hems creep up, we’ve noticed the fanciest lingerie labels offering an increasing number of high-waisted briefs. They’re prettier than they sound, reaching one’s real waist—above the belly button—and featuring a flattering cut across the thigh for a slimming look that’s sexier than Spanx.  And as the runway’s penchant for sheer summer dresses turns into a reality, they’re a practical (prettier) alternative to boy shorts. Below, we round up some of our favorites.

Dolce & Gabbana’s black silk satin briefs, $285 at Net-a-porter.  You’ll probably want to wear these out and about—or at least on the beach.  Resist the urge, but feel free to raise your hem a few extra inches.

Anthropologie‘s two-way set, $88.  These come with a matching reversible bra.

Valerie Bluebell’s high waisted lace brief, $134 at Journelle, are so beautiful that you’ll want the world to see.

La Perla’s high waisted, sheer paneled briefs, $144 at Barneys, come in black and nude, though they lose that edge in the latter.

American Apparel‘s high waisted lace briefs, $24, probably shouldn’t be worn under something sheer.

DKNY’s sweet and sultry shaper, $50 at Shopbop, is anything but what you’d expect from a product with the word shaper in the name.

Cosabella’s Never Say Never thong, $65 at Neiman Marcus, is the best of both worlds (and a reference to Justin Bieber?).
