Just a couple of short months ago, Jason Wu made his first foray into beauty, collaborating with Nest Fragrances on his Orchid Rain candle.
The project came about from Wu’s love of Nest, according to the brand’s founder and CEO, Laura Slatkin. “While reading a feature article about Jason Wu last February, I was delighted to learn that his favorite scented candles are from Nest Fragrances,” she said. “After exchanging notes with Jason, I learned that he was very serious about home fragrances, which led us to this collaboration.”
The candle is decorated with the orchid print Wu debuted on his Spring 2012 runway, and pairs nicely with its white orchid scent. “Florals play an important role in my designs, so for my first fragrance, I wanted to create a floral scent that would reflect my feminine design aesthetic,” the designer explained.
This Thursday, June 14, Wu will make a personal appearance at Bergdorf Goodman’s New York flagship (5th Avenue at 58th street) from 5 to 6 pm on the main floor—go say hi and get your candle signed!
