Jennifer Hudson is QVC’s newest celebrity designer. Come September, she’s introducing a 14-piece collection for the network—her first fashion venture.
“I feel like I represent every woman,” Hudson told WWD, explaining that she designed for both her former size-16 self and her new size-6 body. “I’ve been on both sides of the fence. I’ve been a big girl and now whatever this is, the average size, whatever you want to call it. But I wanted the clothes to be where any girl could wear it—no matter what size you are—and you could feel comfortable in it.”
Every one of the pieces—the sheer maxiskirt, the body-hugging knit dress, the leggings with quilted knees—she would wear herself, Hudson added. “It has to be true to me. I would not sign off on it if I would not wear it.”
The most expensive item is the charcoal gray coat above, which runs $170. “It’s cut like a dress,” Hudson said. “It’s very structured [and] very classic.”
She will premiere the collection on QVC on September 10, and then return with new styles for the Jennifer Hudson Collection for QVC in November and December.
