When Seth Meyers hops on stage to host the 50th annual CFDA Awards ceremony in June, he will not be the biggest star in the room. That’s assuming, of course, that Johnny Depp makes his way to Alice Tully Hall to accept his Fashion Icon Award. The actor, whose style may be more fun to watch than it is influential, is the first man to receive the award that Lady Gaga took home last year.
As for the fashion, the Olsens received their first nomination for The Row, as womenswear designers of the year. They’re up against Jack and Lazaro at Proenza Schouler and Marc Jacobs (who took home the Lifetime Achievement Award last year).
The Proenza Schouler boys were also nominated for their accessories, against Alexander Wang and Reed Krakoff. Tommy Hilfiger will take home the Lifetime Achievement Award and Garance Dore and Scott Schuman—who date, but run very different sites—have jointly won the Media Award.
Theory’s Andrew Rosen has earned the Eleanor Lambert Founders Award while Rei Kawakubo’s this year’s International winner for Commes des Garcons. And lastly, in the men’s wear category, Billy Reid, Simon Spurr and Patrick Ervell make for a very handsome playing field.
