It’s been years since Justin Timberlake focused on his music career, but he’s not forsaken it completely for acting. Every once in a while, he’ll show up to perform in a musical Saturday Night Live skit—most recently, for last year’s “3-Way” with Lady Gaga—and as part of his role in Bad Teacher last year, he wrote and performed the song “Simpatico” onscreen.
His latest musical commitment is a little larger than just one song. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Timberlake has signed up to compose the soundtrack (and serve as music supervisor) for the upcoming film The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea, which just so happens to star his fiancee Jessica Biel. The film is set in New Orleans and focuses on a grieving widower (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) who recently lost his wife (Biel) in a tragic car accident; he finds refuge in helping a young girl (Chloe Moretz) fulfill her dream of building a raft and sailing across the Atlantic Ocean—making for more dramatic fare than covered in Timberlake’s recent spoof songs.
