Karl Lagerfeld has done so many collaborations at this point, there needs to be a word specifically for the occasion. His latest Karl-laboration is with Shu Uemura, on a special holiday beauty collection, WWD reports.
Lagerfeld has used Shu Uemura makeup for more than 20 years—but not in the traditional sense; he employs the Japanese brand’s products in hand-coloring his illustrations. Why? “Because other manufacturers do not offer such beautiful colors,” he tells WWD.
Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura will launch internationally in November; Lagerfeld himself selected the colors and packaging, and has already photographed the accompanying campaign. According to Pier Paolo Righi, president of Karl Lagerfeld, we can expect the products to reflect the designer’s “iconic, ironic style.”
