If you ask Karl Lagerfeld to do a project, you had better be prepared for Baptiste Giabiconi to be its focal point. The prolific designer/photographer/philosopher/party animal was asked to redesign the exteriors of Monte Carlo’s Hotel Metropole. While he doesn’t seem to have made much progress on its façade, Lagerfeld has whipped up some very detailed sketches (photographs?) of frescoes for the inside of the property.
Giabiconi, who, if you recall, was turned into chocolate last time Lagerfeld tackled interiors, stars as a Greek god, wearing a white and gold toga that’s quite feminine (even for the man who made this). The Telegraph reports that Giabiconi sat for the frescoes right after his break up with Katy Perry. Hopefully whatever musical advice she imparted on the wannabe popstar stuck, and he’ll show off his newfound skills at the Metropole’s unveiling. Hey, a girl can dream.
