Now that Michelle Williams has laid claim to Marilyn Monroe (for this decade, at least) Lindsay Lohan’s in need of a new icon to idolize. The Hollywood Reporter says that Lohan, who’s officially out of jail and making a very slow comeback via Playboy and that new FCUK fragrance ad, is in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor.
The Taylor biopic, which has been in the works since May, will air on Lifetime under the guidance of producer Larry Thompson. Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story, will revolve around Taylor’s legendary relationship with Richard Burton.
Lohan was supposed to play Linda Lovelace, a role that went to Amanda Seyfried when Lohan went to jail, and hasn’t actually made a movie since 2010′s straight-to-DVD Machete. A TV movie sounds like a good place to start a long road to career recovery, but Elizabeth Taylor? This soon? As much as we’d love to see Lohan back on screen, the added pressure of a playing a beloved cultural figurehead doesn’t seem necessary.
