We’re midway through Fashion Week and already a certain tunnel vision has crept in. Editors who are normally the first to break news were among the last to know about Whitney Houston’s death; the Republican Primary in Maine was an after-thought; and tonight’s Grammy awards seem to be completely forgotten. “I didn’t realize it was the Grammys—see, I’m so into fashion this week that everything else…” said Olivia Palermo with a flick of her wrist at Tibi. “I love Coldplay, and obviously it’s always fun to hear Maroon 5 and all those fun bands. It will be interesting to see who performs,” she added.
Louise Roe had no doubt who the night’s big winner will be: “Adele—she’s going to clean up. And she’s singing, which is very exciting.” The TV host noted that she’s seen the big-voiced singer three times already, and has never walked away disappointed.
“She puts you under a spell, but in the middle of her songs she’s laughing, bantering, swearing, giggling, and snorting, and you’re like, ‘Oh, you’re hilarious!’ She’s like a dichotomy of the most sensational goddess singer and then really funny English girl,” was how Roe put it.
As for Karl Lagerfeld’s recent comments about the singer’s weight, Roe just shook her head. “I mean, he’s always saying something a bit funny and a bit naughty, isn’t he? He’s Karl Lagerfeld, so I wasn’t surprised,” she said. “But you can expect a kickback because Adele is probably the most loved woman in the world, and we love her curves!”
