H&M historically does a designer collaboration for the holidays: think Stella McCartney, Versace, Lanvin, or Karl Lagerfeld for H&M. This year’s chosen designer? It may very well be Maison Martin Margiela, WWD reports.
Although H&M wouldn’t comment on the rumors, it wouldn’t be the first time the mass retailer has teamed up with a more avant-garde designer: in 2008, Comme des Garcons did an H&M holiday collection.
According to WWD, the Margiela announcement is expected soon; the collaboration could very well span men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, jewelry, fragrance, and home decoration, as Margiela’s in-house design team works on all of the aforementioned. H&M’s next confirmed collaboration is with Anna Dello Russo in October.
