The brand already has Notte, its less expensive but still evening-centric collection sold at Neiman Marcus and Shopbop, but a contemporary line could prove a massive expansion for Georgina Champan and Keren Craig’s seven-year-old brand. Marchesa‘s success is as much due to the Chapman’s gorgeous over-the-top designs as it is to Hollywood’s undying support. Not a single red carpet moment goes by without a frothy Marchesa gown.
It’s hard to know what a contemporary line might look like, since the duo’s never come close to casual and each co-founder has very different style. But if the deal’s not even signed, it might be awhile before we find out.
