Since the beginning of the year, Kate Middleton has worn custom McQueen, Erdem, and Jenny Packham gowns alongside her favored high street brands Zara and Reiss. Although she often repeats looks, it’s estimated she has spent £35,000 (approximately $55,000) on clothes this year alone—not much less than the £44,000 salary her husband Prince William, takes home as a RAF search-and-rescue pilot—the Daily Mail reports.

Although Prince William just inherited £10 million last week from his mother’s estate, it’s reportedly Prince Charles who pays for Kate’s wardrobe through his official Household budget, as long as the outfits are for ‘work-related’ engagements. In the next few days, Prince Charles will open up his financial accounts for the first time since the royal wedding, giving the public insight into how much that event—and Kate’s wardrobe—really cost.
