To celebrate their iconic perfume, Romance, Ralph Lauren teamed up with Sony Pictures to sponsor the premiere of The Vow, this decade’s The Notebook—also starring Rachel McAdams.
McAdams wore an icy blue Vivienne Westwood dress to Monday’s premiere, where she walked the white carpet (so bridal!) with co-stars Channing Tatum and Scott Speedman before the screening at Los Angeles’ Grauman’s Chinese Theater.
As if to prove the theme of eternal love, the after party at the Roosevelt Hotel was reminiscent of a wedding reception–complete with arrangements of pastel pink roses, a photo booth and a large, three-tiered wedding cake from Sweet Lady Jane Bakery (sadly, it was just for viewing, not consuming). TVs throughout the transformed lobby played the Ralph Lauren Romance commercial, shot by Bruce Weber, depicting the real-life love story of Argentinean polo player Nacho Figueras and his wife Delfina Blaquier (who give Tom and Gisele a run for their money), though the true stars of the evening were Kim and Krickitt Carpenter.
It was the Carpenters’ story that inspired the film; after a serious car accident put Krickitt in a coma, she woke up unable to recognize her husband. “The moving narrative of the The Vow reflects the Ralph Lauren Romance story about true love conquering all,” says Guillaume de Lesquen, President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances Worldwide.
