Don’t be fooled by the nickname: Sammi Sweetheart has a dangerous side, and she’s not afraid to market it. To follow up her Dangerous perfume, the Jersey Shore star (whose actual last name is Giancola) has launched Dangerous Desires. She’s also designed some rhinestone-studded cell phone cases—think purple with angel wings or black with an ominous skull-and-crossbones logo (see photo after the jump). What’s up with the mixed messaging? We chatted with Giancola to find out.
We don’t associate you with danger. Is there something we should know?
I feel like “dangerous” applies to me because at times I can be dangerously sweet. I think you see on the show that I am sweet, but also dangerous—when I have arguments or altercations with people, my edgy, dangerous side comes out.
What made you want to get into fragrance and develop your own scents?
Growing up, I just loved perfumes and I always wanted to get into them. At first, nobody had a perfume and I wanted to be different and do stuff that I felt represented me 100 percent. And Dangerous and Dangerous Desires definitely do that.
Snooki and JWOWW have perfumes as well. Were you the first cast member to make one?
Yeah, I definitely had my perfume out first [Dangerous came out in February 2011]. But I love Nicole and Jenni’s perfumes too. I love my cast members and what they do. I’m working on some more stuff right now, like men’s cologne and a fitness line. Oh, and I’ll be launching bling cases and accessories on my site in the next few weeks.
Do you prefer guys you date to wear certain cologne? Is there one you especially like?
No, I don’t really have a favorite, but working in the lab on my men’s cologne I’ve been smelling different samples and found one I really like. I hope the one I make will become everyone’s favorite!
Given your passion for fragrance, do you remember the first one you ever wore?
It was a Paris Hilton one. I don’t remember the name, but the bottle was pink with a black ribbon. I used to love all of Paris Hilton’s scents! But I want to stick with my own stuff—I like my own perfumes now.
Besides your fragrance preferences, how have your beauty tastes evolved since you first entered the spotlight?
I think I look the same, except that I’ve just gotten better with my makeup. Because when you do photo shoots and all these different types of things, you get your makeup done by makeup artists and you kind of see what they do. Having that knowledge now, I think I’m better at doing my makeup than I was a couple years ago.
What are your must-have makeup products for summer?
Well, I’m a Jersey girl so the beach is literally right outside my house—I pretty much live at the beach and get tan, so I don’t need too much bronzer or makeup. But when I go out and want to have that glow I’ll use this spray tan by Bliss that I get at Sephora. And then I’ll just use mascara and lip gloss—I love lip gloss and don’t wear lipstick ever—to enhance my own features. I’ll also wear fake lashes to add that extra touch to my eyes. My eyes are probably the one feature on my face that I really put a lot of makeup on.
Your hair is always so shiny and straight. Do you see yourself trying beach waves at all?
Yeah, my New Year’s resolution was to try and do my hair differently more often. So hopefully this summer I’ll do that because my hair is naturally wavy, not straight. But I really do love straight hair. I don’t use any products, I just use a good flat iron. Hair is really my thing.
When Snooki came out with her fragrance, we asked her who smelled the worst in the house and she said Mike. Do you agree?
I don’t know who smells the worst—what’s weird is that even all the guys in the house shower and are well-groomed. But after the gym, they don’t smell so great.
