In an interview with Exposed Zippers, Simon Doonan mentions that he’s been trying to get his first book, Confessions of a Window Dresser, made into a movie since 1998. “Hopefully it will happen before my teeth are sitting in a mug next to my bed,” he says.
The memoir is based on Doonan’s colorful years directing the windows of the legendary store, working with designers like Miuccia Prada and Azzedine Alaia and a slew of artists and celebrities, which would make for quite a film. He says he has his eye on Hugh Dancy to play the role of Simon Doonan, and we can’t help but hope the actual designers would make cameos alongside Dancy. Emily Blunt could play Julie Gilhart and Eric McCormack, of Will and Grace, could play Jonathan Adler.
Seriously, why hasn’t this movie been made already?
