Our friends at Sous Style headed to Brooklyn to shoot model cum chef Sarah Anne McSweeney at her boyfriend’s restaurant, Lighthouse. McSweeney, who was born and raised in New York and graduated from the Culinary Institute, doesn’t usually cook in Assaf and Naama Tamir’s kitchen like she did for us. Instead, she puts her skills to use across Manhattan (and Ibiza, come summer) whipping up delicious meals for a string of happy clients. Below, a sampling of her thoughts.
Today’s dish was made: at my man and his sister’s restaurant in Brooklyn. Its a beautiful space that serves up amazing cocktails and delicious food. The head chef Nicholas Cox does a super job with the food that includes an oyster bar, grill section, and seasonal specials.
Daily Uniform: I’m waiting for the weather to change so I can rock my sundresses.
I have a few: countries I’d like to invade.
In the kitchen, I swear by: a sharp knife.
Culinary school taught me: discipline.
Modeling taught me: how to adapt and adjust to all types of situations. A coping skill I couldn’t be more grateful for.
Best thing about growing up in New York is: having everything at the reach of your fingertips.
If I could cook for anyone: I would make a cozy roast chicken dinner for Anthony Bourdain. He is my ultimate celebrity crush!
Summer means: Ibiza is a very special place for me. I spend a part of my summer there cooking for one of my clients. The island and its locals have such a positive and magnetic energy. There is something so right about cooking barefoot in an open kitchen, facing the Mediterranean. My countdown to July has already begun.
I’m dying to go to: THAILAND! My travels have not taken me there yet, but I’m dying to try and learn about the cuisine.
