“I love it when women wear men’s leather jackets,” says Johan Lindeberg, the founder of BLK DNM. But, being both a designer and a lover of women, he knows they’re not always the most flattering toppers. So he’s whipped up something with the sex appeal of a man’s jacket and the fit of a woman’s—the Leather Jacket 8 (hitting stores today).
It’s made of white lamb’s leather, “the follow up to last year’s cropped Leather Jacket 1,” Lindeberg says. “[It's] slightly longer [with] dropped shoulders and all the features of a great men’s piece, but with the right length of sleeves for a woman.” To properly show it off, he recruited eight of the coolest girls he knows—actually, they’re probably eight of the coolest girls that anyone knows—Chloe Sevigny, Juliette Lewis, Carolyn Murphy, Tanga Moreau and more, to rock the silhouette over skinny black jeans with tousled rockstar hair polishing off the picture perfect looks. Lindeberg recommends wearing what some might deem an intimidating fabric, “either raw and grungy—just with jeans and a low scoop, longer fluid t-shirt—or more chic with either tux pants and a silk shirt or a long skirt. Add Alaia shoes and vintage Cartier jewelry,” he says. Because once the sun starts shining he wishes every girl wore white: “I like the white essentials: White tux or sharp blazer, white jeans, white leather jacket, see-through silk shirt.”
Stick a Shout wipe in your pocket, and it’s not as far fetched as it sounds.
